According to a recent announcement by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV), more than 43,000 businesses failed to publish their annual reports by the deadline at the end of August 2025.
\nThis obligation applies to all economic entities and plays a crucial role in ensuring financial transparency\u2014not only for authorities but also for business partners.<\/p>\n

NAV has already sent reminders to most of the non-compliant companies, but thousands have yet to respond. A second reminder may result in a default penalty (up to HUF 200,000), though it still allows for the report to be submitted retroactively.
\nHowever, if this deadline also passes without action, NAV may delete the company\u2019s tax number and initiate the process of declaring the business defunct.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to understand that the consequences of tax number deletion are significant: the company cannot issue invoices, reclaim VAT, or conduct any business activity.<\/p>\n

According to the latest statement from the Hungarian Tax Authority (NAV), second-round notifications are already being sent out to companies that failed to publish their annual reports on time.<\/p>\n
