What is coding (kontírozás)?

Coding is the step in which the accountant assigns a transaction to the appropriate general ledger accounts, on the debit and the credit side. This is what translates a real event into the language of accounting, and it decides whether the item appears on the correct balance sheet or profit and loss line.
