20 Years with Us: The Story of Ildikó Kovács

Spending 20 years at the same workplace is a true rarity nowadays. We are proud that our colleague, Ildikó Kovács, has been contributing to BPO‑TAX Adó és Könyvviteli Szolgáltató Kft. for two decades with her expertise and reliability.

Ildi is an indispensable member of our team as a payroll and HR specialist.

Reaching such a milestone is a perfect moment to look back to the beginning, talk about changes along the way, and explore how one can remain motivated, enthusiastic, and professional throughout twenty years in the same workplace.

How do you remember the early days? What was your first day like?

I vividly remember my first day at the office on Nagy Lajos király útja. At the time, there were only a few of us, and the whole place had a very family‑like atmosphere.
My first day was mostly about getting to know the payroll software and receiving detailed information about my responsibilities — a lot of new details at once, but it was exciting to get insight into how everything worked.
We also went for a team lunch, which really helped ease the first‑day nerves. Even then, I felt I had joined a great team.

What was the first task or project that truly stuck with you?

One of the first significant tasks I received was taking over the payroll accounting of a company with great responsibility. It meant a great deal of trust, as payroll requires precision and involves sensitive data.
This task taught me a lot professionally, but it also boosted my confidence: it reassured me that I belonged here and that the team counted on me.

What has kept you at the company for 20 years?

The continuous opportunity to grow. There was always a new challenge or goal that encouraged me to move forward.
And of course, the strength of the community — it feels good to work in a place where you can build for the long term, and where your work truly matters.

What has changed the most in your profession since you joined?

Technology has changed the most. Tools, workflows, and the pace of work have transformed significantly.
Yet the fundamental values — quality, reliability, and cooperation — have remained just as important as ever.

Is there a result or moment you are particularly proud of?

I am especially proud of the advisory tasks where I could provide real support to our clients. It feels great when we not only solve a specific issue but also help make their operations safer and more transparent in the long run.

I also enjoy developing and improving processes. I like thinking in systems and creating solutions that provide a stable foundation for daily work.

I have also participated as a speaker at several MGI‑BPO tax conferences and business breakfasts.
But perhaps I am even prouder of the moments when I could support the development of junior colleagues and watch them grow into successful professionals.

How do you see your role within the team?

I believe I am a stable point within the team. I aim to support our work with experience, calmness, and a solution‑focused approach.
It is important to me not only to complete my tasks but also to contribute to the team’s effectiveness.

What do you enjoy most in your day‑to‑day work?

The variety and the cooperation.
Every day brings something new, and we can always find solutions together. It is rewarding to see the tangible results of our work.

What keeps you motivated even after 20 years?

The fact that there is still room for growth.
Professional curiosity, new challenges, and knowing that my work creates real value.
The energy of the team also inspires me — it’s great to work in an environment where we move forward together.

What are you like outside of work?

Besides work, conscious recreation is important to me. I love painting — creating helps me slow down, relax, and see the world from a different perspective.
Yoga is also part of my life, as it helps me maintain balance and inner peace.

And my 12‑year‑old boxer dog is a true source of joy.
Playing together and experiencing simple, honest moments always reminds me how important it is to be present in the moment.
