On Friday, September 26, 2025, nearly half of our colleagues took part in an extraordinary team-building activity: this time we set off on a detective game within the historic walls of the Hungarian National Museum. Given the gloomy weather, it was especially fortunate that we had chosen an indoor program.
The group was divided into five teams of four. Using a code on their phones, each team could launch the game, and the “investigation” began. The puzzles guided us through various halls and permanent exhibitions of the museum: we visited the Coronation Mantle room, the Seuso Treasure room, the ancient lapidarium, as well as exhibitions showcasing the history of Hungary. From the basement all the way up to the second floor, we explored the building – the afternoon turned into a real journey of discovery.
While the game also offered the opportunity to take a closer look at the exhibitions, most participants focused on solving the riddles and cracking the codes. There was plenty of laughter when we realized that some of the tasks even included mathematical challenges – such as square roots and powers – proving that accountants and auditors can’t escape numbers, not even during a game! The teams finished the challenge almost at the same time, completing it in just over an hour.
As the game coincided with the “Researchers’ Night” event, there were more visitors in the museum than usual, which only added to the lively atmosphere. After the game, those who wished could stay longer to explore the exhibitions individually, and later we also had the chance to gather at a nearby bistro for a relaxed get-together and conversation.
All in all, we spent an exciting, fun, and memorable afternoon together. For those who couldn’t join this time, we warmly recommend visiting the Hungarian National Museum’s fascinating and high-quality exhibitions – they truly offer a lasting experience.
