On April 30, 2025, the Hungarian Gazette published NGM Decree 10/2025 (IV.8.) regarding the work schedule around public holidays for the year 2026.
In 2026, there will be 7 long weekends: three of them will be 3-day weekends, and four will be 4-day weekends, giving us plenty of time to rest.
There will also be 3 rescheduled working days.

Public Holidays in 2026
- January 1 – New Year’s Day falls on a Thursday. The Thursday workday will be made up on January 10, so we start the new year with a 4-day weekend.
- March 15 – Anniversary of the 1848–49 Revolution falls on a Sunday.
- Easter (April 3–6) – We’ll enjoy 4 days off for the celebration.
- Labor Day (May 1) – Falls on a Friday, giving us a 3-day weekend.
- Whit Monday (May 25) – Another 3-day weekend at the end of May.
- August 20 – Foundation of the State falls on a Thursday; the Friday workday will be made up on August 8. So we’ll have a 4-day weekend.
- October 23 – Anniversary of the 1956 Revolution falls on a Friday, giving us a 3-day weekend.
- All Saints’ Day (November 1) – Falls on a Sunday.
- Christmas (December 24–26) – We’ll have 4 days off, as December 24 (Thursday) will be an extra rest day alongside December 25–26. This rest day will be made up on December 12 (Saturday).
