Silver Medal at the Corporate Rowing Competition on Margaret Island

Az MGI-BPO csapata remekül helytállt a Hív a Duna versenyben!

This year marked the fifth time our team lined up at the start of the prestigious “Danube Is Calling” amateur coxed ten rowing regatta, organized by the Danubius National Boating Association. Year after year, this event brings companies together in a truly unique setting: in the heart of Budapest, at Margaret Island, where sport, nature, and community experience meet perfectly.

Our preparation began weeks in advance: we even had matching team shirts made, and during our two training sessions we quickly learned to work together—not only synchronizing our rowing strokes, but also our rhythm and team spirit. It was great to see how we improve a little each year, and how we increasingly sit in the boat as a true, unified team.

On Saturday, May 30, the race started at 11 a.m., and from the very first strokes it was clear that this would be a serious competition. An exceptionally tight contest developed among the leading teams, and we went head-to-head for first place throughout the race. In the end, we crossed the finish line in 2nd place with only a minimal margin behind the winner—something we are extremely proud of!

After receiving our silver medals, it was time for some well-deserved relaxation. Thanks to the organizers, the teams were treated to a shared fish soup lunch, and the atmosphere continued on the riverside with music, laughter, and cheering for the other crews.

Occasions like this always remind us that rowing is not just a sport, but a true team experience: it is about harmony, perseverance, and shared goals all at once. The Danubius community provides that special environment year after year, where beginners and more experienced participants alike can enjoy this unique experience on the Danube.

We are especially proud that the core of our team has consisted of the same enthusiastic members for years: some colleagues have rowed with us on all five occasions, giving their all every time. At the same time, new colleagues join us each year, trying themselves in this challenge for the first time—and that is exactly what makes it truly special. Experienced and new members grow into a team together, support each other, and in the end everyone steps out of the boat with the same feeling: it was tough, but absolutely worth it.

And we already know one thing: we will be back again next year—and this time, we’ll aim for gold!
